spoke with said it didn't happen that way and the suspect was armed but that he had dropped his gun and surrendered before the police open fired. the witness did not want to be identified. >> the young man was on the train, no doubt he had the gun. when the police got there, he threw the gun, and when he came to the door way trying to get away, the female officer fired shot. >> the suspect is 19-year-old george lash. he was pronounced dead at the hospital at 2:30. the witness that took the video after the shooting saw everything from start to finish and was clear the suspect was surrendering. >> he was in a mode of giving up and like he's done, he's not running. >> police superintendent defended the officer's decision o open fire. >> unfortunately it led to a life being lost, but when you try to murder police officers that's what's glg to happen.

two chicago northwest siders were murdered and police are still searching for the killer. exactly one year ago 19-year- old angelina and her 24-year- old boyfriend were found dead. their bodies were found in her apartment. both victims were shot by an intruder. now cook county crime stoppers is asking for your help and offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information on this case. >> a year has passed and no one's been arrested police say they have no more lead, and they can't requestion people and pull them in off the streets, but please whoever knows something about this, please come forward. >> and if your tip helped police catch an offender you could be eligible for a reward up to $2,000.

rain that blocked the sun, and we needed a little bit of warm sunshine to make it feel seasonal and i don't think we're going to get it tomorrow. look at the time lapse cameras and it's grey, gloomy and jackie was right. it was a miserable day today. we're expecting that there might be some improvement maybe by monday or tuesday when temperatures warm up dramatically, but tonight we're reporting about .35 inch of a rainfall this morning. it's currently raining in mid -way airport and i forgot the other place, so we won't worry about it. showers into missouri and illinois and big thunderstorms as a matter of fact. the last of the showers are pushing off to the east, and that's going to be it for a while for the chicago area, but there might be additional development later on tonight, so we could see showers and sprinkles.

already we're watching a little bit of action well off to our west as you can see. but this is the main energy for all of the rainfall. our computer is suggesting that maybe tomorrow we'll see showers, and probably no thunder with that, but look at the cloud cover. it's expected to hang around, and that's going to block the sun and probably keep our temperatures in the 60s again tomorrow. but look at st. louis. 25 degrees warmer today than chicago. the high temperature there all the way up to 90. look at the cool air, though, to our north and west. we'll get a little bit more of that this week, but looking at temperatures fairly seasonal for most of the week. frost and freeze warnings in effect for northern minnesota. i had to show you that and frost advisories in parts wisconsin. across the area, skies mostly cloudy, some showers

the bottom fell out for the white sox against the twins. two games into their series the sox still on the downward spiral, and content to rest their guys as they try to catch the twins. alex rios not resting delivering in the 5th inn and they tie the game. still tied in the 8th right down the middle and turns that into a three-run homer and their losing streak hits five and try again tomorrow afternoon against detroit. the cubs still rolling through their road trip in miami. 5th inning ramirez got a good piece of that one over the left- fielders head and off the ball. bird comes in and the cubs win 5-3. they're 7-1 on this three- city trip and finish it up in florida tomorrow afternoon. other football.

southern illinois lost to southeast missouri, and of course the bears in dallas tofrm to take on the cowboys and rich king already in place. and finally the mets and the braves hernandez facing hudson and that hurts. but hernandez sucked it up and stayed in the game, and on the next pitch from hudson, a two- run homer to right so a happy ening to a painful saga and only if he got around if bases. >> wow. that makes my ankle hurts. >> oh man, yeah. >> he finally made it but they had to turn the lights on to get him to home plate. >> yeah, dallas. >> could be ugly. >> we'll see. >> okay. that's going to do it for us tonight. >> i'm jashgy banks. >> i'm robert jordan and from all of us, have a great night.
